Nairobi

Aamu alkoi hyisessa Nairobin saassa. Taalla on kylmempi kuin Suomessa sielta lahtiessani. En myoskaan loytanyt vastaanottajaani taksikuskia, joten jouduin etsimaan paikallisesta matkatoimistosta apua. Asiat kuitenkin selvisivat. Liikenneruuhkia on taallakin.

Olen Woman's Hope nimisessa keskuksessa. Taalla tehdaan monenlaista tyota paikallisten naisten elaman helpottamiseksi. Yhdistys mm. julkaisee samannimista lehtea, jossa mm. vuorotellen esitellaan muita Keniassa vastaavia organisaatioita. Haastateltavat maksavat haastattelusta ja siten lehti saa osan tuotoistaan.

This day I spend in Nairobi in a very beautiful center called Woman's Hope. My host is Consolata Wangari Waithaka.

"Woman’s Hope was established in March 2007 with the aim of reaching out to women with relevant social-economic information that would be relevant in uplifting the living standards of the entire society. These is to be achieved through different approaches: awareness raising through publications, economic empowerment and capacity building on current issues linked to development and the countries vision 2030."
