Saturday morning

I traveled with Moses Wanderi, computer teacher and Lucy Waithaka, tailoring teacher, both working in the Nakuru Counseling and Training Institute, a long way  from Nakuru to Maralal, which is the capital of Samburu district. Our aim was to visit Irene Girls Trainings Center, where they have a production line in Garment Making Department Artisan/Craft.
If you are more interested of the Irene GirlsTraining Center, please look at the link: http://irenegirlscenter.kbo.co.ke/

On Saturday we also took part in the graduation ceremony of ten tailoring students.

The Irene Girls Training center is devides itnto four main departments:
1. Food & Beverage Department - Artican/Craft Certificate
2. Secretarial Department - Craft certificate
3. Computer Departmetn - KNEC exam
4. Garment Making Department Artisan/craft

Sister Salesia Mgaya M.C. showd us all the classes and told many interesting things about their way of teaching young people. Garment Making Department had very good equipments in general, sewing machines, overlocker, a sewing machine for leather work, loom (tarkoitan tassa perinteisia kangaspuita), and many mechanical looms (kutomakoneita). The training center also has tools for making beads work (jewels) and tools for leather work like shoes and bags.
